Billing questions
How does the 3-day free trial work?
Pick a plan and start your trial. You add a payment method at checkout, but you aren't charged during the trial. You get full access to that plan for 3 days; if you don't cancel before the trial ends, your subscription starts automatically. Cancel anytime. One trial per organization: if your organization had a subscription before, it checks out without a trial.
Who handles payments, taxes and invoices?
We sell through Stripe Managed Payments, so Link (Stripe's checkout and wallet) is the merchant of record for all our orders and purchases show as “Sold through Link”. It processes payments, calculates, collects and remits sales tax, VAT and GST, emails your receipts and invoices, and handles payment support and refunds. Prices are listed in USD, shown in your local currency where available, and tax is added at checkout.
Can I cancel anytime?
Yes. Cancel from the billing page in your dashboard or on link.com, and your plan stays active until the end of the current billing period. No questions asked.
What counts as an API request?
Every call our SDKs make: opening a session, opening a realtime connection (its updates don't count), checking the feed (including the quick “nothing changed” replies) and marking notifications read, archived or clicked. Calls from your backend with a secret key don't count. Requests add up across all projects in your organization per calendar month (UTC).
How many requests does a user make?
About 400 a month for a typical user, which is how we estimate the users each plan covers. That assumes an open app checks for new notifications every minute, slowing down to every 5 minutes while nothing changes. Polling and realtime are off unless you turn them on in the SDK, realtime usually needs fewer requests than polling, open tabs share one connection, and nothing is polled while your app is in the background.
What happens if I go over my request limit?
Nothing breaks. Your users keep seeing their notifications, and new ones show up within 10 minutes instead of within a minute until the month resets, you upgrade or you buy a request pack. The dashboard shows your usage, so you can act before it happens.
What is a request pack?
Extra requests you buy when you need them. An owner or admin buys a pack of your plan from the billing page with a one-time checkout: the same number of requests for your plan's monthly price. Packs are never bought automatically, and you can buy one whenever your organization has an active plan, including during the trial. Unused pack requests carry over to the next months as credit.
Can I switch plans or billing intervals later?
Yes. Upgrades and downgrades take effect immediately, and the prorated difference is added to your next invoice. Switching between monthly and annual billing starts a new billing period and is charged right away. Annual billing saves roughly two months per year.
Which payment methods do you accept?
Credit and debit cards, Apple Pay, Google Pay and Link, plus local payment methods depending on your country.
